In 2014 we celebrated our 150th anniversary in business, helping to protect our clients’ intellectual property rights locally, nationally and internationally.

We now have four more offices based in Birmingham, Liverpool, London and Chesterfield, with the Birmingham office celebrating particular success as it works to protect huge international brands.
Nowadays, the firm employs 52 members of staff, the majority of which are based in their head office in Manchester city centre. This forward-thinking, straight-talking firm has also had many a notable mention in The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners. One quote says, “They're very straight-talking and not afraid to give us all the pros and cons, as well as their personal view”. Another quote says, “Manchester-based Wilson Gunn is ‘first class’, with ‘excellent knowledge’ of the markets in which its clients operate”.
Our firm can deal with all kinds of intellectual property issues for SMEs to global brands in need of preventative, defensive and/or offensive action. We specialise particularly in the automotive, construction, fashion, food, technology, gaming, healthcare, packaging, retail, sport and textiles/filtration industries.
“We are proud of our long-lasting and steadfast history, but we are also equally positive and hopeful for the future. I joined Wilson Gunn 18 years ago, straight from university, which is a testament to the firm and the way it develops young recruits. I’ve also seen how the firm has grown to move with the ever-changing times, making sure we always give the most relevant and up to date advice to our clients.
“We are humbled by the many clients that we share long-lasting relationships with, who we have seen grow along with us over the years. We are also excited about working with our newer clients and supporting them along their journey too, as innovation continues to grow in the UK and around the world. Our legacy is really owed to our dedicated staff, whose work ethic combined with experience and fresh talent make for a truly formidable team, of which I’m proud to be a part of.”
