Mark Jolly has over 20 years’ experience in the patent profession. He spent ten years with another private practice firm, where he was the partner responsible for the London office, before joining Wilson Gunn in 2014. He became a partner of the firm in 2017.
Mark is particularly interested in strategic use of intellectual property and portfolio management and was recently ranked in the IAM Strategy 300, which identifies top practitioners who are leading the way in developing and implementing strategies that maximize the value of intellectual property portfolios.
Mark has patent experience in a diverse range of technologies. With a background in chemistry, Mark has developed significant expertise in dealing with patents in engineering and electronics. For example, Mark routinely deals with inventions relating to medical devices, consumer goods, automobiles and their components, as well as electronic cash handling apparatus and networking.
Mark handles all aspects of patent work, from drafting and prosecution to opposition and enforcement. He also has significant experience of contentious work relating to patent infringement and validity across numerous jurisdictions.
Mark is the UK co-ordinator of the University of Strasbourg’s (CEIPI) training course for European Patent Attorneys and also contributes to the European Patents Handbook published by Sweet and Maxwell.
Mark has built up considerable expertise in relation to copyright and design issues, frequently advising on infringement and validity of design rights, as well as best practice in registration of designs.
Mark sits on CIPA’s Copyright and Designs committee and also contributes to the Community Designs Handbook published by Sweet and Maxwell.
